Top Training award for 'Sparky' Office Junior
A
young office employee in Leeds has won national recognition for
her contribution to business.
Talented 20-year-old Vicky Roberts, from Halton, East Leeds, competed
against 50 nominees of similar age to win the national Contribution
to Business Performance Award sponsored by training specialists
NTP Group, and presented at a Recognising Achievement Awards ceremony
hosted by the Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations Board in London.
The Award, aimed at young people working towards either Foundation
or Advanced Modern Apprenticeships, was introduced by the NTP Group
as a way of highlighting the important role played by youngsters
in business when encouraged to develop initiative and flair.
Vicky, who joined the Leeds office of AMK Maintenance Ltd. as a
telephonist and administrator at the age of 17, has completed NVQ
Level 2 and 3 in Business Administration through Leeds Training
Direct.
On top of her studies she has successfully re-organised the company's
archives and filing systems and customised an off the shelf computer
programme to assist with sales, stocktaking and after sales care.
She was encouraged to apply for the Award by her training advisor.
"We were looking for a bright, sparky youngster whose contribution
to their employer's organisation was over and above what is normally
expected resulting in measurable business benefits" said Ian
Anderson, Chief Executive of the NTP Group.
"Vicky certainly fit the bill. She stood out because of her
maturity, commitment and fresh ideas."
Employer Neil Appleton, MD of the emergency maintenance company,
described Vickys contribution as outstanding:
"Vicky is a competent and hard worker with excellent people
skills. We offer 24-hour emergency response maintenance services
to retail giants such as Argos and Next Plc. When these companies
call on us it's because of unforeseen circumstances such as a fire
or burglary so our office staff need to act swiftly and professionally.
Vicky is highly capable and is well known and liked by our customers".
Vicky, now studying computing and English Literature at evening
class, was delighted to receive the Award:
"I like to be learning something new all the time. I'm not
one of those who sits back while others get on with it, but having
said I am very lucky to be working with such friendly and helpful
people. It's a great job and I have no plans to move on".
NTP was first established in 1993 with the Department for Education
and Employment to help national organisations implementing training
programmes access relevant funding. Since then, the company has
expanded and diversified its role and the NTP Group consists of
several specialist companies offering training related and management
consultancy services throughout the UK.
