Fraser Island also has lots of learning experiences for travellers. In the open rain forest you can get a close to the dingo's and snakes. Trying original bush food is a great way to experience the original Australia, even though bush food could be said to be an acquired taste.

There is also an opportunity to see the Maheno ship wreck, which was an old cruise ship that was taken over by pirates in 1935.

Old aboriginal sacrificial grounds can also be explored on the island and give an eerie sense to what used to go on there hundreds of years ago.

The main city of Queensland is Brisbane, which has the same to offer as any other city. It is full of restaurants, shops and bars and boasts a great nightlife. The city has a strong alternative community with lots of bustle for the Sunday markets and the Chinese carnivals situated in the city's Chinese quarter.

The last town I visited in Queensland is Surfer's Paradise. Living up to its name, the town has become exactly that. It is very lively and popular with tourists. The 'Believe It or Not' museum features extraordinary people and facts about their lives, including the world's tallest person.

Moving the journey south into New South Wales, Bryon Bay is picturesque and relaxed. The town is well known for its hippy alternative culture where cafes and bars are open until late at night. On the beach there are fire blowers and in the distance, dolphins jumping in and out of the ocean and its golden red sunset.

The city lights of Sydney were my last stop. It is a magnificent city of many cultures and entertainments. The Sydney opera house is the most prominent point in the city and is magnificent. Unfortunately you cannot enter the main building except if you have tickets for a show.

There are also great views of the city from the top of the AMP tower, the tallest building in the city.

The Botanical gardens are another of the city's jewels. There are different types of gardens such as Chinese and tropical. These gardens are amazing sights, especially when there are bats the size of melons hanging from the trees above you.

My trip of a lifetime ended there. Moving south I would have encountered the delights the city of Melbourne has to offer - the set of Neighbours, skiing and a great lively atmosphere!
